'השמחת תורה' בפינתנו ארץ DC ירושלים:

מחר, שבת שמחת תורה, 3 שנים בדיוק מאז אותה השבת, נקרא את הפרשה האחרונה:
"וזאת הברכה אשר ברך משה איש האלוהים את בני ישראל לפני מותו"
על תורה וקהילה.

משה עומד ומזכיר לנו מה מאחד את עם ישראל;
"תורה צווה לנו משה מורשה קהילת יעקב".

לאחר שמברך כל שבט בנפרד, משה מברך את כל העם יחד:
"וישכון ישראל בטח..אף שמיו יערפו טל"
כשיש לנו שרברב בשמיים, כמו שאמר הנשיא, שום נזילה לא תהיה, אפילו לא טל.
ומחר, נבקש גשם ולא טל. הפעם נכוון לגשמי ברכה ולא מבול.

בתום הברכה לעם;
"ויעל משה מערבות מואב, אל הר נבו ראש הפסגה אשר על פני יריחו וירא את כל הארץ, את הגלעד ..עד צוער זאת הארץ אשר נשבעתי לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב לזרעך אתננה"
ברחבי ארה"ב יש:
Moab- 4. Nebo-55. Pisgah-111. Jericho- 13.
Gilead-23. Zoar- 11.

במילים "חזק ואמץ" משה מעביר את ההנהגה ליהושע עליו נקרא בהפטרה, (וגם נוכל לצפות- בתמונה).
בנאום הפתיחה יהושע מזכיר לעם:
"לא ימוש ספר התורה הזה מפיך והגית בו יומם ולילה".

מה כלכך חשוב בספר הזה?
זה הסיפור שלנו כבר אלפי שנים.
בלעדיו, אני לא מצליח להבין את הקשר בין 7/10 בעוטף עזה, ל8/10 באוניברסיטת ברקלי?

העולם תמיד יזכיר לנו שאנחנו עם אחד, עם ישראל, גם אם מחולקים ל 12 שבטים/מפלגות.
לפעמים בצורת מוזיאונים והצגות ולפעמים בהפגנות, מלחמות ומטוסים

חובתנו להפנים ולזכור שאנו כולנו צאצאי 'עם הספר'.
לספר- יש ארץ, בה אנו חיים ועליה מגינים, ולפעמים גם נפצעים (שיהיה הלימוד לרפואת נריה דב בן חנה ויחיאל לייטר)

ולארץ יש עיר- וכשממנה 'תצא התורה ודבר ה' מירושלים', כמו שנשיר מחר בלופים (הקפות באנגלית),
אז גם נוכל להמשיך אל הפסוק הבא אחריו, החקוק בכניסה לבניין האו"ם:
"וכתתו חרבותם לאתים וחניתותיהם למזמרות לא ישא גוי אל גוי חרב ולא ילמדו עוד מלחמה".

״לספר יש ארץ,
ולארץ יש עיר״

'Simchat Torah' in Eretz DC Yerushalaim:

🎶'From Zion shall go forth the Torah, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem'🎶

Tomorrow, Shabbat Simchat Torah, exactly 3 years since that Shabbat, we will read the final portion of the Torah:

"And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel."
About Torah and community.

Moses stands and reminds us of what unites the people of Israel;
"The Torah, commanded us Moses, the inheritance of the community of Jacob."

After blessing each tribe separately, Moses blesses the whole nation together:
"And Israel shall dwell safely…even their sky shall be drenched with dew"
When we have a plumber in the sky, as the President said, there will be no leak, not even dew.

And tomorrow, we will ask for rain and not dew. This time we will pray for rains of blessing, not flood.

At the end of the blessing to the people;
‘’Moses went up from the plains of Moab, to Mount Nebo, the top of the Pisgah which is opposite Jericho, and saw all the land, Gilead ..as far as Zoar this is the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to your seed I will give it"

Across the United States there are:
Moab- 4. Nebo-55. Pisgah-111. Jericho- 13.
Gilead-23. Zoar- 11.

With the words "Be strong and courageous" Moses transfers the leadership to Joshua, which we will read about in the haftarah, (and we can also watch- in the picture).

In the opening speech Joshua reminds the people:
"This book of the Torah shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night."

What is so important about this book?
This is our story for thousands of years.
Without it, I fail to understand the connection between 10/7 in the Gaza Envelope, and 10/8 at Berkeley University?

The world will always remind us that we are one people, the people of Israel, even if divided into 12 tribes/parties.
Sometimes in the form of museums and theaters, and sometimes in demonstrations, wars and airplanes.

It is our duty to internalize and remember that we are all descendants of the 'people of the book'.

The book has a land in which we live and defend, and sometimes we are also wounded (may the learning by for the healing of Neria Dov Ben Hanna and Yechiel Leiter)

And the land has a city – and when from it 'the Torah and the word of the Lord will go forth from Jerusalem,' as we will sing tomorrow in the again and again (Hakafot in hebrew),

then we can also continue to the verse that follows, engraved at the entrance to the UN building:
"They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruninghooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation nor shall they learn war any more."

Holiday of peace, and a happy Shabbat!
